Make It Monday Card

Happy Birthday card

So excited to get to play along with Make It Monday today on PTI. Info is HERE. The challenge was to make a glitter strip using Scor-Tape. I love sparkly glitter, so this was fun. Also dyed some white wrinkle ribbon with Spring Rain ink refill by putting some ribbon in a plastic bag with a few drops of water & a few drops of the ink. Smooshed it around & then dried it with my heat gun. I was happy with the results and how easy it was.

Supplies: (all PTI unless indicated)
Stamps - All Booked Up, Round and Round, Communique Sentiments
Ink - Spring Rain, SU Close to Cocoa
Other - Sheet Music Impression plate, doily, Hug Snug ribbon, Scor-Tape, Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter

Make It Monday challenge

My favorite stamping site, PTI, is having their 4th Anniversary Celebration this month. Today's Make It Monday challenge was to make a card that uses a common sentiment stamped multiple times, somewhat like a collage effect. Sounded fun so I decided to play along. So, after dusting off the old blog and blowing the cobwebs out of the corners, here's the card that I came up with. This is definitely a technique that I will be using again because the card came together easily & it feels good to use all of those stamp sets! The awesome flower was a gift from my sweet sister.

Paint by Number Challenge

Time to dust off the old blog & play along with Papertrey Ink's 3rd Anniversary challenge. We were given a sketch and a color palette to follow. My colors were white, ripe avocado, raspberry fizz, orange zest, and terracotta tile. Wow, those were tough colors for me to combine. Wayyyy outside my box!

Here's the card that I came up with. Sorry for the poor picture - can't wait for the sun to come out to get better light. The orange layer is embossed. I stamped the raspberry zest with a little Versa Dazzle ink - love how that turned out. Also can't tell it in the picture but I put a little sparkle on the butterflies with my new Spica glitter pen. Love the subtle hint of glitter on there!

WCMD - Mexico

The last card's inspiration comes from Mexico. When I think of Mexico, I think of bright colors & sunshine, which is what I was trying to achieve with this card. The colored tiles I found in my stash that I've had for years - they reminded me of Mexican tiles (but were extremely difficult to work with - glad I used those up!). Thanks for looking!

WDMD - Australia

The inspiration for this card is from Australia - the use of Aboriginal dotted outlines.

WCMD - Japan

Japan was the next country that I used for inspiration. When I think of Japan, I think of cherry blossoms & delicate flowers & silk screens. I used my With Sympathy stamp set (closest thing that I had to delicate flowers) and stamped a panel of flowers, then cut it apart to resemble screens. Even though you can't really see it in the picture, the pink cardstock is embossed with polka dots. Pink and black is one of my favorite color schemes.

World Card Making Day

On a whim, I decided to participate in the World Card Making Day challenges at Papertrey ink. Usually, I'm not very good at coming up with cards on my own, but once I got going, these were a blast! Memo to me: participate more often!

The first card was inspired by India. I found this patterned paper in my stash and it reminded me of India, plus added some bling to the bottom of the card. Love how this one turned out!
